LOOKING OUT.
Because La Heredia is a horse shoe shaped village with its back to the mountain all houses face to the south and have sea views. The interplay of the sun on the sea and the never ending cloud formations moving across the sky during the day are wonderful (and relaxing) to watch
The photographs capture just one day in the life of the village.
1. Early morning at dawn with the sun peeping over the eastern horizon. North African coast in the distance.
2. A true rarity.
A summer squall followed by a huge rainbow.
3. Dusk and the rays of the sun setting colour the clouds pink and promise a good following day.
4. The last jet trail before nightfall. The curve to the right means the jet has entered Moroccan air traffic control.
5. Still more to come in the dark of night. On the African coast opposite the lighthouse in Ceuta, dating from 1855, guides the ships. An imaginary line from Ceuta to Gibraltar, which is directly opposite, marks the official meeting place of the North Atlantic and Mediterranean seas. On many nights we see the bobbing lights of the fishing boats from the nearby port of Estepona. Their catches are auctioned before dawn.
