OUR ANDEAN CONNECTION.
La Heredia has been captured in photographs, videos, in sketches as well a being used as a subject for paintings in water colours and oils. It has been filmed for events such as new car launches, modelling shoots, magazine articles and even wedding pictures. We await the first visit from a drone. However it has also been used for one more unique portrayal.
Tapestry!
The Andean Mountains are the spine of the whole length of the South American continent from Chile and Argentina in the south to Venezuela in the north. Because each of the seven Andean countries is in part cold, and because they support huge flocks of sheep, goats and llamas, there exists a substantial hand weaving industry to weave items for clothing, decoration and functional use in the houses. Many weavers are born with the weaving gene.
One Argentinian owner in La Heredia has brought her skills and on a loom in her house wove this beautiful, fine, tapestry which depicts the curved street near the entrance. She has included a scene from daily life in our village and shown her friend and neighbour walking her dog and being accompanied by two of her cats. Two of our gardeners are also included.
